Although this email doesn´t directly involve the we think it´s a good idea to be alert. You should always be careful with emails that don’t sound “right”. If an email you receive from the Educational Retirement Board, or a group claiming to represent us, makes you feel suspicious please contact us immediately at 1-866-691-2345 or via email member.help@state.nm.us We want to take a moment to share these important tips from the National Cybersecurity Alliance to help you identify any possible phishing emails. How to identify a phishing email For Our Members Due to Governor Lujan Grisham’s orders regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, most NMERB staff are working from home, and our offices are not open to our members or the public. Our call center is experiencing a high volume of calls, so please understand that there may be longer wait times and that you may be asked to leave a message. If you do leave a message, keep in mind that when we return your call, our call to you will register as a restricted number as a majority of NMERB’s staff is working from home. As an alternative to calling, please feel free to contact us via email at member.help@state.nm.us . We appreciate your patience. Please be assured that while our offices are closed, essential services will continue. Staff continues to work diligently to ensure that benefit checks are issued on time, retirement applications and essential forms are processed, and the trust fund is managed prudently. We anticipate disruptions as a result of these closures, but we ask for patience from our members during this time. A message from NMERB’s Chief Investment Officer and Executive Director As you know, we are living in unprecedented times, between the current turmoil in the investment markets and the disruption to our daily lives caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. At NMERB we know that our most important duty every month is paying retirement benefits to our 50,000 retirees. This is a commitment that we will honor, regardless of what is happening in the world or the financial markets. NMERB is a long-term investor and we have structured this well-diversified investment portfolio to withstand financial market downturns. Be assured that ERB’s professional investment staff will continue their best efforts on your behalf. Please know that you will continue to receive your monthly retirement check during good markets and bad as well as during times of pandemic-driven shutdowns and “normal” times.
